Hello my beautiful friends!! Welcome to my blog, after a long week of work the last thing I wanted was to grocery shop today, however there wasn't much left in the refrigerator for this weekend. Thankfully I like to start planning & building my grocery shopping list throughout the week as we ran out of items. I wanted to share how I plan my grocery shopping trip and how I plan on what foods we will be having throughout the week. I tend to grocery shop every week and always meal plan to stay in our budget. Always try to make one trip to the grocery store, going more often may cause to overspend and it can get tempting to get variety of unhealthy options.
First thing I do like most of you is look through Pinterest & find inspiration. I try picking easy to make recipes & as healthy as possible, without being too restricted. Since its just the two of us I tend to cook 2-3 times a week only, the rest of the days we have leftovers. I write down the meal that I want to have, and next to it placed the main ingredients that each recipe will need, I tend to BOLD the foods that I know I have already & that don't need to be purchased.
I take this to the grocery store with me to make sure I have everything for the recipes as well as my grocery list, just staples that we always need at home this week was
Bagels (for the hubby)
Whole wheat bread
Cereal
Splenda
Almond milk
Peanut Butter
Eggs
Ketchup
Creamer
Spinach
Here's an over view of what we got for this week, I shopped at Del sol & Walmart today.
Our main source of protein this week will be chicken, tilapia, ground turkey & eggs. In the menu I had chicken bowls, however I decided to switch the recipe for turkey bowls instead! As you can see I try to use lean proteins.
CARBS, CARBS, CARBS!!!!! I don't completely avoid carbs as you can see , I believe for a healthy lifestyle you need balance, and carbs are life ! Always try having whole grain, whole wheat or complex carbs. The cereal is completely unnecessary but I LOVE IT
& a closer look at all the fruits & veggies that we got for the week.
Stay tune for the next blog, to see all these ingredients come together in awesome & healthy recipes. I also lacked desserts this week & missed them so I will be sharing my favorite easy & healthy desserts.
Friends....Friends remember I like to base my diet on 80/20 well here's my hubbies favorite candy & my recommended intake of chocolate per week :) ! enjoy your weekend.
Stay healthy.
