Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.
Hello my beautiful friends!! It's been so long since I've felt inspired to write again. My life has changed so much recently & thankfully only for the better. I have found it hard to share my new journey only because more than anything I respect each and every one of you & the decision you guys make. By sharing my journey & thoughts I hope that you always remember I come from a place of love & only sharing my journey with you.
I have written this many times during the last 6 months & can't bring myself to find the right words, in ways that makes it easier to understand. I realized its a sensitive topic & I understand that but it's part of who I'm now & if you love to keep reading I would appreciate it but if you don't I understand it.
I feel like I've always been exposed to vegetarian food, vegan foods and meat alternatives. My older sister Vero & her family are vegan. I have other family members who were vegetarian. My mom has always cooked meat replacements and it's been a while that I was only drinking almond milk. Still I never really questioned them why they would do it? it didn't bother me either it was just never something I considered doing . I loved meat! RED meat, steaks, burgers, tacos ! I said " I could never stop eating meat" so many times. Until I did.
It was on Sunday July 9, 2017! Our Sunday started with picking up Machaca burritos from a local restaurant & coffee. We enjoyed our burritos at home & watching Netflix. We ran out of things to watch & we ended up watching " What the Health" I have no idea why I decided to click on it, I hadn't heard about it. Just looked interesting.
I watched, I cried & I decided to stop eating meat. That machaca burrito was the last time I ate meat.
Now here's the thing obviously this documentary is controversial & so many people think its really bias. I didn't stop there I went out of my way to find YouTube videos, to find other documentaries & any information that would help me. What I got from the documentary & the reason why I decided to stop eating meat was just the fact that I was eating animals. I love animals my puppies are my babies!!! I realized that day that in my heart all animals were the same & worthy of living. I've heard people tell me that I'm one person & it won't make a difference. The thing is it makes all the difference to know I'm not participating in this. I'm out! I will not be part of it!
Animals mean so much to me, and I see no difference between a pig, cow or my Franchesca & SOSO ( puppies) . I'm not here to tell you or anyone what to do or what to eat. I just want to share why I'm doing this. I've been asked often If I don't miss meat? NO I do not miss eating animals. & I'm so sorry that I did eat it for so long.
There is many ways to cut down on animal products
1. Meatless Mondays are a great idea
2. Eating vegan for breakfast.
3. Eating vegan until dinner.
4. switching from cow's milk to almond milk or soy milk
5. going Plant based
The benefits are amazing!! For your health, for the animals & environment.
I'm planning on going back to doing what I eat Wednesdays but felt the need to share first the reasons of why I eat the way I eat.
I'm grateful for my husband, family & friends for helping me to make this transition so easy. I love to know that I have a family who supports me and loves me just the way I'm for accepting my new ways of eating & always making an effort.
I've had to learn it all at once. That Sunday I had already gone to pick up groceries for the week, so I went back to the store to find other options for me to eat. I had no idea how to cook the tofu or what I should be eating. It's all been so fun to learn and as time passes by I surprise myself of how good it can be to eat vegan & how happy it makes me to eat this way.
I'm truly happy & thankful that I've changed my lifestyle for the better, no way am I perfect but I make an effort everyday.
Thank you for reading up to hear & ask away if you have any questions!
For anyone wanting more info I recommend watching
